As businesses struggle to keep up with never-ending technology updates, there is one recent trend that is not going anywhere anytime soon: mobile friendly websites.
Google has been one of the primary catalysts in this recent mobile-friendly push by making the first of a series of mobile-focused algorithm updates on April 21st.
Google, along with other search engines, has acknowledged that the number of mobile internet users overtook fixed internet users and is now striving to help motivate businesses to capture the value of the mobile market.
What does this mean for you?
This change moves to give mobile users better experiences from search on their devices. The responsivity and mobile compatibility of all websites ranked on search will now play a part in your websites ranking. If your website is not optimized for mobile devices, with this switch you may now be missing out on traffic you would be getting if it was.
With Cisco predicting Global mobile Data Traffic will increase tenfold between 2014 – 2019, This move by Google only serves to highlight the importance of mobile focused development in web design.
