The Value of Personalization in Today’s Marketplace

When it comes to businesses today, personalization is more valuable than ever. With accessibility at an all time high—ranging from Google searches to social media, blog posts and articles in the media, a person can find what they are looking for with a simple click of a button on the device of their choice. This means that visibility to your target market is key, but even once you accomplish that, you need to be sure that your target market can not only easily find your business and the services that you offer, but that your potential and existing clients understand what your company is all about.

Web personalization is the best place to start, as this is where most leads are generated today. When someone visits your website you need to be sure that they not only understand what you do. It is so much more than that. Your website needs to show the history behind your company, why you do what you do, how you do what you do, the team that makes your services come to life, the results and success that your business has accomplished.

Perhaps you entered your industry on a whim, or maybe you are upholding a long-running family business, but whatever brought you on your path, there’s a good chance that there is a story of history and passion, and you are proud of what you do. These are important points that your audience should be aware of, because it makes your company more personable, more relatable and it shows your target market that while you may be a well oiled machine, it took a lot of work to get there, and people respect that.

Another key point of personalization is the mission behind your business. Do you have a mission statement, a guiding philosophy or overall process that you and your team adhere to? Your clients will want to know this, and there’s no better place to tell them than on your website.

At the end of the day, the more targeted and personal your website is, the more likely others will feel that they can relate to you.

At DevDigital, we recently spent four months reworking our own website, because we wanted our company and our culture to be accurately portrayed.

What are your thoughts on website personalization? Have you taken the steps to grab the attention of your target market?
